The Bystander Initiative offers sexual assault prevention workshops in both Fall and Winter term. This year, we will offer 70+ workshops to over 1600 undergraduate students. Separate workshops are offered for students in the Faculty of Law and in some other settings, such as Athletics.

  • Why it’s important to challenge rape jokes and rape myths
  • How to recognize and safely interrupt situations that commonly lead to sexual assault
  • Ways to help and support victims-survivors of sexual assault

Workshops are 3 hours long with a break for snacks. To encourage full and frank discussion, workshops are small (20-25 participants), led by students who have completed the two BI courses, and offered separately to men and women. Trans and gender non-conforming students are invited to choose the workshop where they would feel most comfortable.

Come with your class, your friends, or on you own. Participants earn a Certificate of Completion that you can add to your resumé.
